A Rural Town Where the Garage Does Real Work
Gilbert is a rural town, and epoxy flooring here usually goes into a garage or shop that earns its keep. The Town of Gilbert describes itself as about 12 miles from the Town of Lexington and 25 miles from Columbia. It sits at about 541 feet, well above the river towns closer to the city. The 2020 census counted 571 people, and the town's own site puts it at nearly 700 residents today.
Car show season starts in the garage
Every July, Gilbert hosts the Lexington County Peach Festival. The 2025 festival ran on July 4 with a car show from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., a Peach Parade, carnival rides and fireworks. If you keep a show car, the garage it lives in should look as good as the paint. A full-broadcast flake floor in a classic color mix, or a solid color with a clear topcoat, gives the car a clean place to sit and makes fluid leaks easy to spot and wipe up.
Shops, equipment and red clay
Rural lots mean bigger outbuildings. We coat:
- Equipment and tractor sheds where mud and clay come in on tires and tracks
- Farm and hobby shops with welders, grinders and parts washers
- Two- and three-bay garages that hold trucks, side-by-sides and trailers
- Wash-down areas where a hose is part of daily cleanup
Red clay stains bare concrete and is hard to scrub out of the pores. A sealed floor lets you hose it off. For heavy use we build a thicker 100% solids epoxy system with a chemical-resistant topcoat, and we add grit where the floor gets wet.
Young households, busy floors
In 2000, 53.0% of Gilbert households had children under 18, and the median age was 32. That is a young town. Garages here hold bikes, ball gear and lawn equipment along with the trucks. A flake floor hides the dirt that comes with all of it.
Patios for summer evenings
The town's site notes Lake Murray is less than a thirty-minute drive. Boats come home on trailers, and back patios get use most of the year. For outdoor concrete we use a light-colored, textured, UV-stable coating that stays cooler underfoot and does not get slick when wet.
Keeping a shop floor in shape
A coated shop floor needs little care. Sweep or blow out grit before it gets ground in. Wipe up fuel, hydraulic fluid and battery acid soon after they spill. Use a soft deck brush and a mild cleaner for a deeper wash, and skip harsh acids. Put plywood or a mat under jack stands and kickstands on hot days. A topcoat that is cared for this way keeps its gloss and grip much longer, and it can be recoated later without grinding the whole system off.
Getting the timing right
Plan a show-car garage or shop floor well ahead of July if you want it done before the festival. A coated floor needs time to cure before heavy equipment or hot tires sit on it. We give you written walk, move-back and parking times for the products we use, so you can plan around them.

Gilbert Questions
Can you get a show-car garage done before the Peach Festival?
Yes, if you book early. Most garages take one to two days of work, then the coating needs time to cure before you park on it. Call us in the spring so there is room in the schedule and time for a full cure.
Will red clay stain a coated floor?
Clay sits on top of a sealed floor and hoses off. On bare concrete it soaks into the pores. A flake finish in an earthy color hides it between washes.
Can a tractor shed floor be coated?
Yes. We use a thicker system with grit for traction. Steel tracks, chains and dropped implements will scratch any coating, so we suggest rubber mats where heavy equipment sits or turns.
